MAY ONE OF THIS SOLUTIONS HELP YOU FOR YOUR PERSONAL TRAINING ?

Why 50% of Personal Trainers Suck

I can feel fastening cuffs and gnashing of teeth as I write this. I can see your eyes glide like a non-friendly cousin entered the game. I can hear the whispers and "whatevers" under breaths of all. Well ... if you are still interested in reading this, it is because you want to stand out of the 125 000 new fitness professionals who join the ranks of each year, and I hope you do not want to be one of the 25,000 who retired after one year.

I think you'll continue reading this because you want to hear what you have to say. And who the hell I am, you may ask? I am many things .... an observer, a student, a teacher, a leader and a friend. I am a professional coach and educator. I remember being asked what I did for years of living and in response, "I am a personal trainer," and everyone looks at me like having three heads.

"You mean you show people how to use these machines?"

"Mmmmm .... close .... helped people get skinny fat and help slow people run faster, and help people scared to be brave ... and help the weak are stronger, and help sick people become healthy. "

Therefore, being labeled a personal trainer has come about over the last 3-4 years. As one is not as strange as it used to be when I started. Of course, they are the ones who started before me. Oh, yes ... they were called Biff, Zach, and Lance. Were the biggest guy in the gym with darker tans and shoes Ottomix around. Handkerchiefs, belts, earrings and gym. He felt protein and were more weightlifting gloves that some women have shoes. Some were too old ... often tell stories of past exploits - big banks, big dead, great squats .... broken noses, sore back and knees shabby.

So these guys finally disappeared and a new generation of coaches arrived around. These instructors have left the sports titles of the university and money. These new instructors went to aerobics rooms and sought after certifications. These new monitors have increased the Dungy gyms and have become students of the game. These new instructors use what they have learned in books and researched themselves. They understand the function of the hamstrings in a thrust is to slow the movement .... they understood the function of the rotator cuff ... including cardiovascular performance is directly related to functional capacity. These new instructors have even looked professional. They wore khakis, polo shirts and golf shoes, dress, and had a smile. These new instructors practiced what they preached because they have learned in training; they learned in athletics; they have learned in class step; and learned by trial and error. These instructors have a passion to share the knowledge gained with the average citizen and once they were able to help your client first born ... the confidence. These instructors have realized that his passion was becoming the bread and butter. These instructors have begun to understand sell their services was part of the game and they wanted to market their success more and more customers. They realized that they can achieve longevity in the field, rather than assuming that it was a short-term career detour. They made money! They helped people to lose weight! Helped the weak become stronger, and young people become more athletic. They had a different label 'trainer' on their shirts and wore their own business cards! Soon, word of mouth is the best marketing tactics that could use ... customer was referring friends and family! The results were to be found everywhere - in the gym, at family gatherings, at church meetings, in public and in homes!

But "they" came ...

Yeah, so those who have little or no experience went. Those who wanted all the glamor without working for it. Those who thought his time was too precious and required to pay more. Those who have followed all the journals false prophet. Those who felt they were supposed to be trainers.

I wrote this article because I had the opportunity to interview 43 "will be" trainers of my career in personal training six consecutive years and three years of direct management of personal trainers. Some were supposed to be good coaches and hired them, some were for wasting my time. I have the ability to load the classes of personal trainers of community colleges in Connecticut, and every year I meet more than 100 new people who want to become a personal trainer. I workout three times in four different clubs a week and I have the opportunity to observe the trainers in action. I teach workshops on training techniques of advanced resistance training four times a year and have the opportunity to talk to coaches in their first year "on the job". Speaking and listening, and I realize that 50% of the course trainers. Here are my top 5 reasons why:

1.) Instructors believe that your time is valuable TOOO.
What bothers me to no end. How long is your precious time to help someone? Many coaches charge up to $ 100 per hour for your time! Sorry, but I would never pay someone $ 100 for nothing. Coaches tend to set their prices based on what "the most important things they could do at the time the session" (playing with the kids, watching the DVD, preparing dinner, shopping, etc.) in rather than setting your price based on your level of experience and background. Too many coaches want the Ferrari soon as they get the license. Detail in my book "Secret Skills Personal Training" - to achieve longevity in this field must be set to "service to others". Personal training is not a self-service race. You help others ... you give to others, you sacrifice hours of shit, and deal with different personality types to help others. Time for the less fortunate (or less healthy in this case) is more valuable than ours ... because they both have left us.

2.) Everyone wants to coach
I can feel it through. Some people develop a desire to help others. I really understand that the desire to help another human being in an unfavorable condition. But ... as everyone is not intended to be a doctor, a lawyer, and astronaut - everyone is meant to be a personal trainer just because you've crossed the express line to your gym local 12 weeks and lost £ 14. This does not make you a professional. There is nothing wrong with wanting to be something in life ... but to be good at what you do in this area is what separates you from everyone.

3.) Grant millionaires permission to everyone to call coaches
Well ... in the last two years there has been an incredible influx of personal training studies, training camps, websites and products. This saturation caused damage to the personal training industry. Many of these personal trainers are encouraged to market and develop low programs. Are they develop programs to mediastinal purpose? No ... but it is the level of competition out there because they focus more on making money through marketing and easy money. So, they make a lot of money from these novices. And potential customers do not know the difference. Another adverse effect of all this is: recruits are great for advertising, website development, and use of marketing strategies; but when it is the formation of a customer .... Shoots! Thus, the client is "off" by the lack of experience, knowledge, professionalism, creativity, and responsibility for these recruits and guess what?
The field was too clogged with people who want to share their services before they are really good at them! "Our field is marked as JOKE!

4.) Coaches exercises
See occasionally. Coaches encourage clients to take an arm, a leg standing cable row twist on a foam roller ½! Well .... I will not get into that trainer may not know exactly why he or she performs the exercise. But I'm going is that I know for a fact - just by looking at the coach - the coach does not work or can not perform this exercise. Why coaches do? Is it because such an exercise is difficult and we want our client suffers, or is because exercise has a purpose? So many coaches are out of shape and not conditioned by the type of training required (powerlifting, Interview, functional, etc, etc ...) Well, guess what? It is not only physically able to perform the exercise, but especially to know "where and how" on the occasion of the exercise and understand the mental capacity to perform the exercise. So if you preach, you must practice!

5.) Do not keep learning coaches
I can not say enough. To be able to develop exercise programs for sedentary people who are putting hard-earned money and trust in you is so important. A doctor do not get their school diploma and start seeing patients --- a residency in a hospital ... for years! Trainers need to understand that this practice is more than holding a clipboard and counting reps ... it is to understand the human body and how they correlate with the tensions to their customers put into it, and stress physical you put into it by exercise. An exercise program unchanged in its first two weeks is a joke to me. Any coach that leads around the latest edition of the physical condition of men in a session is a joke to me. Any coach who can not admit they need help or need to see is a joke to me. I've known coaches who were certified in 1988 and have not learned something new. Do you know how fitness has evolved in just three years? Half of the coaches today do not put the time, effort and money in training, seminars, and books and videos. They want to make money and invest in their skills or experience. Imagine this: If I sold a computer with Intel Pentium Processor 2.5 processor for $ 1,200, I do not mind if I turned and saw the same price on a computer with Intel Pentium 4.0 processor? You want the fastest computer because you receive more for your money! Well, sorry to say, not every customer is getting more for their money. Some pay tactical coaches based on their looks, sales, or not knowing what they are getting.

I do not mean to offend anyone with this article. I look at this article as a challenge for you to step up. Personal training can be a choice of dog-eat-dog career and if your intentions are placed correctly, you can enjoy a long and successful career in it. Do not let this article, but left to awaken the initial reasons why you want to be a coach.
